Meet Our Referral Services Team

We are pleased to be able to offer you referral services at Animal Hospital of Dauphin County. We want to make sure you have the best care possible so we have created partnerships in the Harrisburg & Hershey area to ensure that your pet will be in the best hands. For more information about the specific services offered, meet our Referral Services Team.

Dr. Goodwin: Cardiology

Dr. Goodwin received his veterinary degree from Tuskegee University. He completed his internship in 2000 at the Coral Springs Animal Hospital, and then went on to complete a cardiology residency at Purdue University from 2005 to 2008. Dr. Goodwin is a Diplomate of The American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Cardiology). He is one of less than 200 board certified cardiologists in the United States.

Dr. Tomes: Ultrasound

Berks Veterinary Ultrasound was started in 2003 by Dr. Jason Tomes. Dr. Tomes grew up outside of Chicago and did his undergrad work at the University of Illinois. He continued his education at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1983. He then completed a one-year post-doc medicine, surgery and teaching program at Purdue University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. In 1984 he moved to Berks County and worked in general practice until 2003. At that time he started Berks Veterinary Ultrasound and has limited his practice to mobile ultrasound work since. He has been ultrasounding patients since 1993, after having purchased one of the first machines for general veterinary practice in Pennsylvania.

Dr. Tomes has been actively involved with the International Veterinary Ultrasound Society since 2006. In addition to IVUSS, Dr. Tomes is a member of the Veterinary Ultrasound Society, American Veterinary Medical Association, Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association, and the Schuylkill Valley Veterinary Medical Association. Locally, Dr. Tomes has been on a number of TV programs and co-hosted a weekly radio show about pet health care.

Rehabilitation Therapy

Animal Hospital of Dauphin County is committed to providing rehabilitation for our patients and our referral patients! We recently had some changes to our rehab team and are excited to have Dr. Jennifer Fletcher as our Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT). Dr. Fletcher completed her training with the Canine Rehabilitation Institute through Colorado State University in September 2017. Our technician Marah Eimer is currently in certification training and is enrolled with the University of Tennessee. Marah has been providing rehab therapy to patients under the direct supervision of Dr. Cheryl Burke, CCRP and Dr. Brooke Lowenstein, CCRT for the past year. Together, Dr. Fletcher and Marah are excited to continue providing this unique service to our clients and patients. Let us know if you are interested in rehabilitation for your pet! I would also like Rehabilitation Therapy to have it\’s own drop down from the Services tab that lands on a page with the above bio and the new brochure. It will remain in Referral Services as well.
