I-131

What Is I-131?

I-131 is a treatment for cats with hyperthyroidism. It involves an injection of radioactive iodine, as prescribed by Board Certified Veterinary Cardiologist Dr. Jonathon Goodwin, given under your cat’s skin, absorbed into the body, and concentrated in the thyroid gland. The cat remains in a designated ward in the hospital for at least 4 days until the radiation level is low enough to go home. Once at home, additional and simple precautions are taken for a few weeks to limit radiation exposure from your cat.

Both the vet and technician were very nice and took care of Rhett with compassion.
Very friendly and handled my bearded dragon with care.
We looked everywhere for a vet to have a look at my very sick mouse and Dauphin County Animal Hospital was the only one who would see her on a Saturday. The front desk was fast and they were very friendly. We saw Dr. Balmer and she was amazing. I recommend this place 100% and will take all my mice/other pocket pets here if they need vet care in the future!
Wally and I had a great experience. As a first time cat owner, I had a lot of questions. They answered all my questions and made my little man feel comfortable at his first visit! Thanks!!
