Veterinary House Calls in Harrisburg

Compassionate Care in the Comfort of Your Own Home

Sometimes, pet owners are hesitant to bring their furry loved ones in to the vet. Your otherwise mild-mannered cat turns into a wild tiger if they even suspect a road trip. When the time comes to lay your pet to rest, taking him out of his home and his comfy bed can be too much to bear. At Animal Hospital of Dauphin County, we’re here for you, and we want to continue to provide the best medical care we can, even when you can’t make it in to our office.

Call (717) 652-1270 to schedule your home veterinary appointment. We’ll help you wherever you need us in Harrisburg and Dauphin County.

Below, we have posted answers to some of the questions our patients’ families ask. If you have other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us to learn what we can do for you.

For clients who have visited the Animal Hospital of Dauphin County within the past two years, we offer home visits to better accommodate their pet. Our Harrisburg veterinarians can perform check-ups and administer medications. While we try to be as accommodating as possible, some illnesses are best treated in the hospital where we have the equipment to best care for your pet.

Whenever possible, we ask clients to call at least a week in advance to schedule a house call with Dr. Zajac. We do our best to accommodate euthanasia appointments in a timely manner.

In this case, Dr. Zajac will make advanced preparations with the staff in the hospital so when you arrive with your pet, we will be ready to give the care needed.

Yes, there is an extra fee for house calls which covers travel time and the first 20 minutes in your home with Dr. Zajac and her technician. An estimate for billing will be given at the time of the house call and will include any diagnostics or medications provided for your pet. A credit card number will be taken at that time, and final billing will be prepared and communicated to you upon Dr. Zajac’s return to the hospital.

Yes! There is no pet limit for house calls.

Dr. Zajac and her technician will happily travel up to 15 miles from the hospital.

I love this place it is great that they have a cat and a dog side no wait very quick within and out service
The staff is great from the front desk to the to the doctor. Everyone is professional and willing to help and answer any questions you may have. Dr. Fletcher is an animal lover not only a vet. She was on the floor with our dog and took her time to explain everything we needed to know. It is a very busy office, but they are timely with their appointments. He ended up have surgery there, and everything from drop off to pick up went well.
I would recommend them for dogs, cats and things like that. Birds, not so much which is what my friend took there.
I highly recommend Dr. Balmer! She was kind and knowledgeable. If you’re looking for a good exotic vet this is the place to go. Weezy thanks all of the staff at Dauphin County Animal Hospital!
